St. George PSR

St. George Catholic Church PSR

Mission and Staff
Saint George's Parish School of Religion (PSR) provides instruction and formation in the Catholic faith tradition to students attending public and non-Catholic private schools in grades K-8.  Saint George's Parish School of Religion is administered by the Director of Religious Education (DRE), Susan Chorley (573-808-4759). Volunteer catechists generously give of their time to assist parents in educating their children in our faith.
Sacramental Preparation
The School of Religion directs the preparation programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation for all parish children. First Reconciliation and First Communion occur in 2nd grade
Children must be prepared to receive First Reconciliation before preparation for First Eucharist may begin. The class, when ready will be given an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a date for both the St. George School and PSR classes. The parent and child along with the pastor/pastoral administrator will make a determination when the child is ready to receive Reconciliation and/or Eucharist. Canon Law states that once the necessary catechesis is completed and the person has an adequate understanding of the sacrament of Reconciliation and/or Eucharist, no one shall be deprived of the right to receive these sacraments once he/she expresses a desire for it.
Registration and Enrollment
Any family that is registered in St. George parish may enroll their children in the catechetical program. In order for their children to be admitted the family must complete the registration and student information forms and indicate that they have read and accept the policies contained in this handbook. Parents are also required to fill out a health form on each of the children they seek to enroll in the program. Registration forms can be obtained from the church office or click the link (Sacrament Preparation Requirements) below.

A general registration for all children is held each August before the beginning of classes. Families who wish to enroll their children during the year may do so by contacting the director/coordinator of the program.

Fees: A registration fee is required for each student enrolling in the program. Cost per child…$25.00 to cover text book cost. Each student is responsible for their own book and must purchase another one immediately if they have lost theirs. Students are expected to supply their own paper or notebook and pencils.

Please note: Continuous enrollment in PSR is required. Students are not allowed to come in and out of the PSR program; they must register and attend classes each year.
